Where does that which I call myself end?

My artistic practice is built around this question. I am interested in what the body exchanges, incorporates, and shares. Through these elements, I investigate to what extent we can continue to speak of individual identity when what we consider our own is continuously in relationship with other bodies and other forms of life.

My work unfolds at the intersection of art, science, and philosophy. I cultivate microorganisms from the body, document their transformations through photography, work with ceramics, and create installations in which breath, water, and organic matter become part of the work’s processes. I am not interested solely in representing these processes, but in creating situations where they can occur.

This research also stems from a personal experience. The experience of loss and grief led me to confront the idea of death and to question the separation between life and disappearance. Rather than conceiving of an individual body that begins and ends within itself, my work seeks other ways of understanding existence as an exchange, transformation, and continuity of matter.

Lynn Margulis’s theory of endosymbiosis, David Bohm’s concept of the implicate order, and the Buddhist notion of interbeing have been essential references throughout this journey. Margulis's proposition that seemingly independent organisms arise from relationships of incorporation and symbiosis, paired with Bohm’s view of an interconnected reality and the practice of interbeing, allows me to think of the body not as a single unit, but as a community. From this perspective, microbiology ceases to be merely a field of representation and becomes a tool to approach what usually remains beyond our perception.

Through different media and processes, I create works in which the boundaries between body and environment, individual and community, and the visible and invisible become unstable. I am interested in that moment when something that seemed to belong exclusively to one person begins to reveal that it has always been shared.
